Josh Burns
Josh Burns is Labor’s Federal Member for Macnamara.
First elected in 2019, he serves in key parliamentary roles including as Chair of the Parliamentary Joint Committee on Human Rights and Chair of the Foreign Affairs and Aid Subcommittee of the Joint Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs, Defence and Trade.
His values are grounded in the experience of his family. As the grandson of migrants who left Europe and settled in Melbourne in search of a safe place to raise their families, he knows the importance of upholding a multicultural and multifaith Australia – and the profound role education can play in changing lives.
Before representing his community in the Australian Parliament, he served as an adviser in state and federal governments, including to the Premier of Victoria. Outside of work, his favourite things to do are spending time with his daughter, play basketball and enjoy the world class coffee in his electorate.
Mr John Berger MP
John has been a Labor Party member of the Victorian Legislative Council since December 2022, representing the Southern Metropolitan Region. Berger serves as the Deputy Government Whip in the Legislative Council.
Preceding Berger's election into the Victorian Parliament, he was the State Secretary of the Transport Workers Union (Vic/Tas) Branch from 2016 to 2021 and the National President of the Transport Workers Union from 2019 to 2021.
Berger sits on the Legislative Council Economy and Infrastructure Committee as a member, and the Legal and Social Issues Committee as a participating member.
Alongside members of government, John Berger has helped to deliver free kindergarten programs across the electorate, hospital upgrades, power and hot water subsidies, free TAFE, the Veteran’s Card, and more.
