Wednesday Training

Saints,

Thanks to everyone for coming out for the intra-squad game on the weekend. We had almost 40 players come down which is a great turnout. Everyone got through a couple of live at bats and a few innings in the field – was a great way to work off some rust. It was also great to see 25+ people hang around and have a few drinks after the game.

This Wednesday is our first skills session and hopefully everyone can come down and work on some specific parts of their game they want to develop.

We will have infield, catching and hitting stations happening with specific drill based activity. We will also have some capacity to have a few pitchers throwing a small bullpen but there will limited pitching coaching at this stage. Bryan will also be available if anyone wants to work on base running specifics.

We will do group warm ups and a group activity to close.

Please come with a plan on what you would like to work on so we can help you get the most out of the 2 hours.

See you Wednesday.

Sponsorship Renewal - Limerick Arms Hotel

Saints,

We’re delighted to announce the sponsorship renewal of the Limerick Arms Hotel for another year.

Over the past 12 months, the valued sponsorship and support offered by Steve and the staff at the Limerick Arms Hotel has been nothing short of fantastic, and even last weekend they donated a bus to take us on our end of winter season trip to the Little Creatures Brewery in Geelong.

For those players new to the club, the Limerick Arms is at the corner of Park and Clarendon Streets in South Melbourne and it’s one of the oldest pubs in Melbourne, it has a great modern menu, plenty of beers on tap, dining and function room areas and no less than 7 big screens to watch sports.

Let’s keep up the patronage of the Limerick Arms Hotel even on non-club event days and also mention you’re from the St Kilda Baseball Club too!

Thank you!

Working Bee (Saturday 24th September)

Good Morning Saints. Just a friendly reminder that the Club’s pre season working bee is this Saturday (24th). We’ll be edging, cleaning, trimming, doing a tip run, filling with new infield dirt and generally sprucing up the field for the start of the new season and we’ll have the BBQ fired up to boot. So with that age old saying that ‘many hands make light work’ get down in some capacity and help out to make YOUR field and rooms one we can all be proud of.

We’ll be kicking off around 10ish in the morning (there will be people earlier). If you can’t make 10, come at 12 or 1, there’ll be plenty to do, but come and put in your 2c worth.
There will be further reminders as the week goes on
Cheers

Weekly Training

Saints,

After 3 successful pre-season training sessions over the last few Sundays it’s time to move into the next stage of our training.

This year we will be having 2 training sessions each week – Wednesday and Thursday – both running from 6.30pm – 8.30pm.

Thursday nights will be the club training night where we will work in groups to a very structured system to ensure everyone gets the necessary work in.

Wednesday nights will be a more focused training session where you can work on specific positional play or spend the night on your hitting – you choose your focus.

Thursday is the main training night for the club and if you can only make one night this is the one to aim for. We will be opening the bar as usual and making team announcements for the upcoming round of games in the clubhouse.

Thursday training begins this coming week 22/9 and Wednesday training will begin next week 28/9.

See you all Thursday.

Todd

Training (Update)

Saints,

Training this Sunday will start at 1pm instead of 11am. We will run for 2hrs as normal and finish at 3pm.

The weather has not been kind this week but the forecast is improving. We will have a plan to train around whatever the field conditions to get the most of our time.

Also – If you haven’t RSVP’d to the INTRASQUAD game can you please do that urgently so we can plan that day accordingly. You do this on team app.

Cheers,
TC

Working Bee (Change of Date)

Saints,

With the heavy rain forecast for all day Friday we’ve decided to re-schedule the club’s summer working bee originally planned for Saturday 10th September until Saturday 24th September.

Its a tough call between playing weather man, giving appropriate notice and ensuring we have a field that we can actually work on. Also, Parks Vic have confirmed they will be spraying the field in the coming weeks.

Thanks for your patience!

Cheers Shaun

Senior & Junior Player Registration Summer 2016 / 2017

Hi Saints!
As you’ve seen we are already well into the planning and preparation for Summer 2016/2017.

Released today on our website are the details on the registration process. It is a little different to last year but is an easy 3 step process.

In other news the committee has agreed to absorb a fee increase from Baseball Australia and are not increasing our Senior fees. Everything is outlined on our website along with the registration form download link.

Jump onto the website for details:
www.stkildabaseball.org.au/page/fees_and_uniforms.html

The committee is also looking to have the facilities to pay fees and assist with registrations throughout pre-season events. If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to contact us.

Training Times (Updated)

In order for more senior players to help out the juniors, training on Sundays will be from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. and not from 2-4 p.m. as previously announced. This change will also allow for more time for drinks, potential BBQ and socialising after Sunday sessions. Apologies for any confusion. Thank you.
