It's that time of year again, Summer season is just around the corner. After a great winter season in which we fielded 4 teams, it's time again to turn our focus to summer baseball.
Not long ago at our AGM we elected our new President Todd Clarkson and Vice President Bryan Livett with Avi Lewis and Pete Smith continuing in their Secretary and Treasurer roles. Additionally we have Simon Leicht and Josh Smart joining Sean O'Halloran, Justin Ramirez and Jeff Kuhl as Directors on the Board. With a strong leadership team and renewed commitment to improving all aspects of our club we enter this summer season with lots to look forward to.
We are proud to announce Eddie Escalona as this years club coach. As most of you know Eddie has been doing a fantastic job with the coaching staff developing our junior sides and is one of the most knowledgeable baseballers on the club. With a passion for teaching and success Eddie will continue the legacy of strong coaching ability coming from within the club to strengthening the clubs on-field culture.
Our Season Begins on October 1st and runs through to February with finals in March 18'. Training for summer will begin on Sunday September 3rd from 1-3pm and continue each Sunday through the end of September when we will switch to Thursday training from 6-8PM. Of course, our Thursday training will always end with team announcements and a few drinks up in the clubhouse.
Registration this year will be slightly different then previous years. All fees this year will be paid through SportsTG, the same system we pay our association fees to Baseball Australia and Baseball Victoria. Fees are as follows:
The process for paying should be quite straightforward, just follow the link, create an account, and register. Remember, to receive the early bird rate, fees must be paid no later than September 30th. Please don't hesitate to e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org with any questions or issues. For questions regarding fees, payment plans and alternate forms of payment, please contact our Treasurer Pete Smith at email@example.com.

Peter Smith provided the financial overview of the club which is improving year upon year thanks to the support of its members and the grants we have been awarded.

Adoption of update to Club Constitution
Like all registered sporting clubs St Kilda Baseball Club has a set of governance rules which provides an overall direction for the club, controlling the actions of the Board (President, Vice-President, Secretary, Treasurer) which should satisfy the legitimate expectations (of its members and its affiliations) of accountability and regulation.
We have chosen to implement an updated constitution document of which is based upon current regulations and is approved by our peak bodies Baseball Australia (BA) and Baseball Victoria (BV).
This constitution is a matter of public record open to all members of the club. During the AGM we will be voting on its adoption so I encourage everyone to have a read.

Saints – I need your help!
As you know we have our first social function for the year coming up with our TRIVIA NIGHT on Saturday October 22nd. We are having a special fundraising activity on the night to help the club’s field improvement project. We will be conducting a series of live auctions with 100% of the money raised going towards finishing the infield upgrades that SeanO and the club started in September.
To help make this a success – WE NEED PRIZES!!! We have already got some really great donations from club members that will be hot property on the night. We are looking for prizes ideally worth around $250 each that we can auction off – but any contribution will be greatly appreciated. Whether you can get something donated from your company or you run your own business and can offer up a prize – everything we get will be 100% invested into the field upgrades which benefit us all.
If you can help out with prizes shoot me a message or speak to me at training. For those who have already donated something – thanks so much.
Most importantly – if you haven’t confirmed your attendance to the Trivia night please do so ASAP – we need everyone there!!
Tonight’s training will be specifically focusing on infield and outfield work in conjunction with hitting. Bryan will be running specific outfield drills using the jugs machine while the infielders will continue the work we started last week along with a few new drills. Mariano will have hitting drills working in the tunnels and dependent on field conditions we will try to get a good live hitting session as well. No specific pitching or catching tonight but anyone wanting to throw a light pen will be able to.

Thanks to everyone for coming out for the intra-squad game on the weekend. We had almost 40 players come down which is a great turnout. Everyone got through a couple of live at bats and a few innings in the field – was a great way to work off some rust. It was also great to see 25+ people hang around and have a few drinks after the game.
This Wednesday is our first skills session and hopefully everyone can come down and work on some specific parts of their game they want to develop.
We will have infield, catching and hitting stations happening with specific drill based activity. We will also have some capacity to have a few pitchers throwing a small bullpen but there will limited pitching coaching at this stage. Bryan will also be available if anyone wants to work on base running specifics.
We will do group warm ups and a group activity to close.
Please come with a plan on what you would like to work on so we can help you get the most out of the 2 hours.
See you Wednesday.
